What is THAT?

Why are parents not "parenting" their children anymore? What is the matter with my generation as parents? A bigger bunch of lazy losers I have never seen. They either use the television or the Wii to run their households.
I have had to cut ties with two families that had little boys my daughter played with and I'm about to cut off a third. The first one LITERALLY tried to KILL my daughter and he got a five minute time out for his trouble. I kid you not. My husband threw them out of our house. This is a man that takes A LOOOOONG time to get to a boiling point. He is the most laid back person you will ever meet. Another neighbor has a kid who has to come in the house and make up crap to tattle . Makes me want to scream. I thought I was crazy for being so annoyed with him but then he started public school. The teacher sends him to the principle daily and he has been recommended to a child psychiatrist for "emotional problems".
THEN I have my neighbor in my cul de sac. She does day care and runs a tight ship. Until her own kid misbehaves. She SPANKS other peoples children all day long for the smallest infraction. HER son reared his fist back to punch my five year old in the face because she asked him to stop screaming at her and he get's...YOU GUESSED IT...TIME FREAKING OUT!
Unbelievable.
We don't believe in video games, or television. She watches MAYBE an hour a week. We have board games on Thursday with our dinner. That is the closest she comes to entertainment with food. On Saturday evenings she is allowed to watch a kid movie. That's it. We do not have a vast collection of childrens' DVD's. There is no Wii, no Nintendo, no Xbox (Well...there was an xbox when she was a baby but that hit the garage floor. THAT blog is archived). She can also read on a 2nd grade level and has an adult's vocabulary and a 3rd graders grasp at math. Amazing what they can learn when you turn off all the "technology".
We see dad's who are so fixated on their hobbies that their own children come fourth or fifth to selfish dreams. We see 300 lb mothers who think that processed food is the way to give your children the nutrition they need.
Our neighborhoood is on a vast system of trails, canyons, parks, and mountains that are blocks away from anyone's front door. Our schools only serve fresh food, and vending is unheard of. Our library was just voted the best in the country. There is no excuse for these chunky, misbehaved, unengaged children.
It doesn't matter how compassionate, or smart, or mannered my own daughter is...if in the end she is surrounded by fat sociopaths!
